CHARLES SPENCER CHARLIE CHAPLIN

            Charles Spencer Charlie Chaplin was an english comic actor,film maker,producer and composer who rose to fame in the era of silent film. He was born on 16th April,1889 in South Londan,England .His parents were Charles Chaplin Sr and Hanna Chaplin. Both are music hall entertainers. His parents were separated when chaplin was one year old.His formal education was minimal. He largely received his education on the streets of london and through a profilic career in entertainment rather than formal schooling. He lived with his mother in poverty.He developed skills in comedy,screen writing,directing and music composition becoming a true plymath of the silent and early sound eras. He joined studios in Hollywood and in the year 1918 he set up his own studio. He was the maker of number of film.He wrote,directed, produced,edited and composed the music for most of his films .He produced ‘the Kid’, ‘The Great Dictator’ , ‘The Modern Times’ , ‘The Lime Light’ ,etc.He was a peace lover. He was given knighthood in 1975. Charlie’s most memorable on-screen character and icon in world cinema during the era of silent film is ‘The Tramp’. It was written and directed by Chaplin in 1915. He went to Europe.His political views often brought him controversy leading to him being denied re-entry into the USA . He settled in Switzerland till death. This versatile man passed away on 25 Dec,1977.
