KILLED IN A TRAIN ACCIDENT

Firozabad, 11th August:
A serious train accident took place near Firozabad station at about 3p.m when
Delhi-bound Purusottam Express rammed into the Kalindi Express. More than 300
persons were died and over 500 were injured. Among the dead, there were 80 army
personnel and 100 athletes. Some of the coaches of both the trains got smashed.
According to official sources, the Kalindi
Express suddenly stopped after it ran over a cow as its vacuum pipe was blocked
by a portion of the cow’s body.The signal operator forgot to change the signal
to red and the Purushottam Express with a speed of 140 K.M/ hour dashed against
the rear of the Kalindi Express.
A medical team including 500 trained assistants rushed to the spot. Police and army were sent to the spot. The Railway minister shows and announced an ex-gratia amount Rs.10 lakh for the kin of the dead and 1 lakh for injured.
A high profile
investigation team has been appointed.
