THE CLEVER FOX AND THE FOOLISH GOAT
Once upon a time a fox felt very thirsty on a hot summer day. He ran here and there in search of water. Suddenly he saw a well and tried to drink water. By chance he slipped and fell down into the well. Fortunately for him, there was not enough water in the well to drown him. But all the same he felt very helpless. He tried hard to get out of the well but all in vain. Soon a goat came wandering to the well. Drawn by the groans and howls of the fox, he peeped in and saw the fox in it, he said to fox, "What are you doing there, my dear friend?"
Forthwith the cunning fox hit upon a plan. He said to the goat , "The water of this well is very sweet. I have never tasted anything sweeter than this. I have drunk it to my heart's content. Please come down and have a hearty drink." The foolish goat believed the clever thug and jumped into the well without any more ado. The sly fox immediately mounted upon the goat's head and leaped out of the well. The foolish goat was left behind to meet his own doom. As he left the place he said to the poor goat, "The next time, my friend, be sure to look before you leap."
Moral: Look before you leap. Or, Never trust a sly person.
